'세나도'는 포르투갈어로 의회를 뜻하는 용어라고 한다. 세나도 광장은 유럽의 광장에 비하면 그리 크지않는 규모이기는 하나 광장 주변의 유럽풍 건축물들이 이국적인 느낌을 자아내는 아름다운 관광지이다. 서울의 만남의 광장과 같은 곳이라고 할수 있다. 전 세계에서 모여든 여행자들의 휴식 장소로 언제나 붐빈다고 한다. 우리가 갔을 때도 많은 관광객들로 붐비고, 주변에 행사들도 끊임없이 이어지고 있었다. 주변의 상점과 기념품가게, 식당들이 마치 유럽에 온 것만 같은 느낌을 주고 있다. 무엇보다도 화려한 돌바닥이 눈길을 끌었다. 이것은 포루투칼 건측양식이 반영된 것으로, 화사한 파스텔 톤으로 빛나는 신고전주의 양식의 건축물들이 복잡한 광장 주변에 늘어서 있었다.

우리는 광장에서 나와서 버스를 타고 마카오 타워로 이동하였다. 이 타워는 2001년에 마카오 반환 2주년을 기념해 세웠다고 한다. 높이 338m이며 세계에서 손꼽히는 높이의 타워란다. 이 타워는 전망을 볼수 있다는 점이 장점이긴 하였지만, 무엇보다도 우리는 스카이워크 엑스라는 액티비티에 도전해보려고 했지만, 줄을 너무 많이 서 있어서 사실 포기해야만 했다. 이 액티비티는 안전장치를 착용한 뒤, 61층 전망대에 매달려 외부 난간을 직접 걸어보는 프로그램이다. 우리는 대신 기념사진만 찍기로 했다. 유리창밖으로 번지점프를 시도하려는 사람들이 보인다. 이렇게 으스스한 곳에서 번지점프를 하려는게 너무 무서웠다. 아무리 안전장치를 한다고는 하지만.

우리는 타워의 카페와 기념품 가게를 이용하면서 타워의 전경을 감상하였다. 우리나라의 63빌딩과 비교해보았고, 마카오의 건축기술도 상당하게 발전했다는 걸 느꼈다.

PART Ⅱ. Going to Senado Square and Macau Tower

  ’Senado’ is a term that means parliament in Portuguese. Senado Square is not very large compared to European squares, but it is a beautiful tourist attraction where European-style buildings around the square create an exotic feeling. It can be said to be the same place as the meeting square in Seoul. It is said that it is always crowded as a resting place for travelers from all over the world. When we went, it was crowded with a lot of tourists, and events were constantly going on around us.

The surrounding shops, souvenir shops and restaurants made me feel as if I had come to Europe. Above all, the gorgeous stone floor attracted attention. This is a reflection of the Portuguese building style, and neoclassical buildings shining in bright pastel tones are lined up around the complex square.

  We left the plaza and took the bus to the Macau Tower. The tower is said to have been built in 2001 to commemorate the second anniversary of Macau's return. It is 338m tall and is one of the tallest towers in the world. The advantage of this tower is that it has a view.

Above all, we tried to try the activity called Skywalk X, but we had to give up because we were standing in too many lines. This activity is a program to walk on an external railing by hanging a observatory on the 61st floor after wearing a safety device. We decided to take a commemorative photo instead. I see people trying to jump bungee out the window. It was so scary to try bungee jumping in this scary place. No matter how safe they are.

  We enjoyed the view of the tower while using the tower's cafe and souvenir shop. I compared it to 63 buildings in Korea, and I felt that Macau's architectural skills had improved significantly.
