Meet the President of Korea

Gwangju Jeil High School, Im Jinwoo

On May 5, 2010, when I was a sophomore in elementary school, I was invited by President Lee Myung-bak, then president, to Seoul Airport in Seongnam, where the presidential plane is located.

At that time, I seemed to have visited without really knowing what it was. I was elected as a local student representative to see the President's face for the first time in my life on Children's Day.

Afterwards, it is true that every year Children's Day invites children to Blue House, where they are invited to Seongnam where the presidential plane is in 2010.

At the event, the president had a chance to see the inside and eat meals on board a private plane, which the president and his party took when traveling abroad. What impressed me most was the format in which the children answered when they asked, and a child asked, "What can I do to become president?"

President Lee replied, "You must study hard, but most of all, you must know how to love others."

In addition, Lee Soo-geun, who was seen on TV, held an event, which also played an interesting game.

“We'll put our hands on the president's shoulders and give prizes to the fastest-gathering friends,” he said. As soon as the song ended, it was scary to say, “Well, make five pairs.” Many children ran to the president all at once, and the president stopped falling.

At that time, I was so young that I couldn't do anything politically, so this Children's Day event was very fun and interesting. Above all, remembering meeting with the country's first president was very impressive in my life.

This good experience seems to have helped me grow up to be a loving person with consideration for others.

I look forward to entering the Blue House someday.
