In July 2018, I went to Hokkaido with my grandfather and mother.

Departing from Incheon International Airport and arriving at Chitose Airport, we took a shuttle bus to see the view of Lake Shikotsu. Lake Shitsuko looked wide and deep like the sea, with a maximum depth of 363m and a large lake about 41km in circumference. In particular, it is a caldera lake formed by volcanic activity about 40,000 years ago, and is said to be the most transparent and clear lake in Japan that does not freeze in winter.

Grandpa and I walked on the red bridge by Lake Shitsuko and enjoyed the view of the quiet lake.

We took a bus to Lake Toya and boarded a cruise ship. Lake Toya is said to have created a huge eruption 110,000 years ago and created a lake. So far, nine eruptions have resulted from volcanic activity. I was riding a Toya cruise, and I was surprised at how many seagulls there were in the lake.

It is a course that takes a cruise ship to the inner island and then returns. It felt like going to Busan and sightseeing on a cruise ship. There was a stall inside the cruise ship, and the inside of the ship felt more like a typical common-style cruise ship than a luxury one. Above all, I was surprised at the flock of seagulls flocking to the second and third floors to give sweets to seagulls. Lake Toya in Hokkaido was a quiet and peaceful lake.

We took a bus and moved to Noboribetsu Hell Valley. Hundreds of craters are said to be called Hell Valley because the smoke rises and the hot spring water boils like a goblin. As soon as I arrived at Hell Valley and saw the scene, I was forced to come out with admiration. I feel like I'm in hell. The smell of sulfur and the smoke rise up to twenty, and on one side you can hear the sound of water sizzle. I was really scared if I fell into the water here. Sulfur smelled like the smell of egg yolks.

Hokkaido's trip was really interesting. Japanese people were impressed by the fact that they used geographic features such as volcanoes and hot springs as tourist resources.
