광주제일고(Gwangju First High School) 2학년 임진우

2019년 3월 28일, 2박3일을 일정으로 학교에서 체험학습을 위해 제주도를 가게 되었다. 골프를 치기 위해 몇 번 가본 제주도. 학교에서 친구들과 갈수 있다니 무척 흥분되었고 또 다른 새로운 경험이 될 거라는 기대감을 가득안고 비행기에 몸을 실었다.

첫 번째 코스는 용머리해안이었다. 바닷속으로 들어가는 용의 머리를 닮았다고 붙여진 이름이라고 해서 너무 신기했고, 특히 화산폭발로 인해 생긴 구멍이 뚫린 응회암과 함께 층층히 쌓인 사암층 암벽을 보고 이런 절경은 제주도 아니면 볼수 없겠다는 생각에 너무 아름답다고 느꼈다.

다음으로 추사유배지를 방문했는데, 추사 김정희가 약 9년동안 머물렀던 유배지였다는 이야기를 듣고, 왜 조선시대의 유배지로서 전라도나 제주도를 많이 선정했었나 라는 생각을 해보게된 계기가 되었다. 나는 이런 아름다운 절경을 보고 추사 김정희의 추사체와 새한도가 완성된 것이 아닌가 하는 생각이 들었다.

우리의 발걸음은 어느덧 메이즈랜드에 다다랐다. 메이랜드는 5.3km에 이르는 미로 공원인데 돌미로, 바람미로, 여자미로 이렇게 3개의 미로로 구성되어있었다. 나는 누가 이런 미로를 만들었을까 하는 그 아이디어에 새삼 머리가 참 좋다라는 생각을 해보았다.

제주도에서 빼놓을 수 없는 명소인 성산일출봉! 해맞이로 가족과 함께 이곳을 찾으면 참 좋겠다는 생각을 했다. 성산일출봉은 원래 화산섬이었는데 육지와 연결되어 이런 장관이 펼쳐졌다고 하니, 새삼스레 자연의 웅장함과 신비스러움을 다시 한번 느낄 수 있는 계기가 되었다.

마지막으로 방문했던 국립제주박물관은 제주 지역 출토 문화재를 수집보존하고 전시하는 박물관이었는데, 나는 영국의 대영박물관하고 계속 비교가 되었고, 우리나라도 상당한 수준의 박물관들이 운영되구나 라는 생각을 하게 되었다.

이번 체험학습을 통해 우리나라에도 이런 멋진 신비의 섬이 있구나 라는 생각을 하게 되었다. 무엇보다도 수업시간에 배웠던 지식들을 다시 한번 확인할 수도 있었고, 제주도의 지리적, 문화적인 지역 특색을 이번 기회에 공부할 수 있는 계기가 되었던 것 같다.

이런 아름다운 섬이 몇 년전부터 중국인들이 매입하기 시작했다는 안타까운 이야기도 들었다. 앞으로 우리는 아름다운 우리의 섬을 보존하고, 널리 알려야한다. 몇 일 전, 미국 아카데미수상식에서 봉준호 감독 ‘기생충’의 감동적인 4관왕 석권으로 온몸에 전율이 퍼졌던걸 기억하며, 한국의 문화자원 소중하게 지키고 알릴필요가 있다고 생각하였다.

I visit Jeju Island, a mysterious island.

  On March 28, 2019, I went to Jeju Island for three days of experiential study at school. I have been to Jeju Island a few times to play golf. I was very excited to go with my friends at school and got on the plane with the expectation that it would be another new experience.

  The first course was the Dragon Head Coast. It was so amazing that it was named after the dragon's head. In particular, I felt that the scenery was beautiful when I saw the stacked sandstone rock walls with the perforated tuff formed by the volcanic eruption. It was thought to be a landscape that can only be seen on Jeju Island.

  Next, I visited Chusa Exile, and I was told that it was an exile where Chusa Kim Jung-hee stayed for about nine years. It was an opportunity to think about why Jeolla-do and Jeju-do were selected as a place of exile in the Joseon Dynasty. As I watched the beautiful scenery, I thought that the CHUSA letter and the SAEHANDO painting were completed.

Our steps have reached Mazeland. Mayland is a 5.3km labyrinth park that consists of three labyrinths: stone, wind and woman. I thought it was a good idea for the idea of ​​who created this maze.

  Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak is a must-visit spot on Jeju Island! At sunrise, I thought it would be great to find this place with my family. Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak was originally a volcanic island, but this magnificent view was made in connection with the land, and it was a chance to feel the grandeur and mystery of nature once again.

  Lastly, the National Museum of Jeju was a museum that collects, preserves and exhibits the cultural assets of Jeju. I have been comparing it with British Museum in England, and I thought that Korea has a significant level of museums.

  Through this experience study, I thought that there is such a wonderful mysterious island in Korea. Above all, I was able to confirm the knowledge I learned in class, and it was a chance to study the geographical and cultural characteristics of Jeju Island on this occasion.

  I was sad to hear that these beautiful islands began to be bought by Chinese people a few years ago. In the future, we should preserve and spread our beautiful island. A few days ago, I remember that I was thrilled by the impressive four-time quartet of director Bong Jun-ho's parasite at the American Academy Awards. I thought I needed to keep and inform Korean cultural resources.
